Here's a little background information.

In 2023, Michigan updated its solid waste law. The new law shifts the focus from traditional disposal to a comprehensive materials management approach that prioritizes recycling, waste reduction, composting, and safe handling of materials. All 83 counties around the state are tasked with writing a new Materials Management Plan. Berrien has partnered with Cass and Van Buren County to develop a multi-county plan. This plan will provide for a forward-looking, integrated approach to materials management aligned with Michigan’s modernized statute. Writing this plan is absolutely a community effort, and more information will be coming to your community soon.

Sincerely,

Jill
